Workout Wednesday x NUFit Abs

One of my many fitness mantras is "a strong core makes you lethal!" So, of course we are starting my NUFit x Sweat series focused on building that powerhouse. So, crank up those tunes and let's get started. 

The Workout

The workout consist of 5 core moves x 3 rounds.

The Formula

You will complete each move for a total of 3o reps. You will start with move #1 and go down the list. After completing all 5 moves take a quick 3o sec break and get back into round 2. There are a total of 3 rounds, if you want another round go for it and if you want less drop back. Movement is movement no matter what level you are.

Move #1 Mountain Climbers: This is one of my favorite moves. It's not only a full-body move it is one of the best ab moves ever. Start in a plank postiton with your hands shoulder width apart and the weight shifted through the heels of your feet. Make sure your core is tight and there is no sway in your lower back. Begin by alternating your knees to your chest while focusing on keeping your abs engaged.
Move #2 Sissor Kicks: First, make sure that your navel is drilled into that mat, pull your chin up and look down the center of your midline. Once set alternate your straight leg kicks. Don't forget to point your toes and keep your back in constant contact with the floor.
Move #3 Lemon Squeezers: Start lying on your back with your arms and legs both extended out. Take a big inhale and as you exhale use your abs to pull to the center. I like to tell my students to try to keep their shoulder blades off the mat so it helps keeps the core fully engaged too.
Move #4 Claim Shell Abs: Start lying on your back with your hand in a traditional sit up position and the heels of your feet together in a triangle shape. Take a big inhale and as you exhale take your elbows to touch your knees.
Move #5 Side to Side: Start in a plank postion with your ankles touching. Start to alternate a little hop to your right tricep and then to your left. This is great for toning those obliques!
