Gym Glow
With summer winding down and the fall fast approaching, I wanted to share some of my favorite "gym glow" beauty brands. Since I live a very active lifestyle I like to wear little to no makeup ... I prefer the "fresh face" look. I am all about getting a "good" sweat in while working out so having products that work with my lifestyle is key. Honestly, there is nothing worse than realizing your makeup has dripped off your face and onto the gym floor! So, I wanted to share a few beauty brands that help me maintain that healthy gym glow.
Nars Illuminator: I love having a little shimmer on my face during a workout, it adds to that healthy glow. This product is light and easy to apply.
RMS Lip2Cheek: I am obsessed with RMS! Major staple in my beauty bag! One of my favorite colors is beloved, it gives you that perfect touch of color.
Benefit Cosmetics Mascara: I've been using this brand since I was in high school and it's always been a trusty go-to product.
Sweat Cosmetics: The women behind the brand are truly making sun care + cosmetics for athletes because they were all professional athletes! Huge fan!
SDR Set Essential Oil: Victorine is a goddess! Her product SEX, DRUGS and ROCK & ROLL is the only thing I put on my body. She uses the purest oils mother earth produces.

Rooted in Legacy
“Being an athlete is a part of our family ... it's in our blood”
Sport x family
Name: Gioia Bartalo Nickname: G Hometown: Tampa, FL How long have you been dancing? 20+ years How long you have been a pro athlete/dancer? 3 years Favorite style of dance? Hip Hop What style of dance are you most known for? (Your specialty) Even though I was trained as a technical dancer in a studio setting, I fell in love with hip hop during college. That’s my “go to,” and probably what other people would say is my favorite style! Why Broncos? Even though I’m a Florida girl, I was raised a die-hard Broncos fan! There is nothing like the Mile High Magic, especially when it’s paired with a culture of tradition, excellence and winning championships. You came from an very sports driven family can you tell us about that? Saying my family is sports-driven is probably an understatement... Haha! My dad played in the NFL & my mom cheered in the NFL. My stepdad played college baseball. My stepmom played college softball and is now an ironman triathlete. My brothers and sister are all active in sports as well! Being an athlete is a part of our family… it’s in our blood. Why is being a FEMALE athlete so important to you? Being a female athlete means getting after it. It means being intentional, ambitious, driven, focused, motivating, and passionate. It means smashing your goals, raising the bar higher, and inspiring the next generation of female athletes to do the same. Favorite workout? Climbing mountains ;) I’m really into hiking. Especially here in Colorado, where your casual Saturday stroll takes you to the top of a mountain! What's your WHY? Right now, my teammates are my WHY. Being the best team possible requires every one’s best effort! If you think about getting better for your teammates standing next to you, the motivation is endless.
As you can see Gioia is not your typical female, she was truly born to play! Her roots are filled with professional athletes and it's no wonder G is who she is today!
Join me and my #NUFitSQUAD for the whole month of August as we talk about what it means to be #NUFitReady. It means setting goals, showing up and doing the work. It's about making scarifies, leadership and staying late even when you are tired. It's that inside gut hunger that keeps you wanting more and expecting nothing less. NUFit is more than sport it is a way of life. Let's celebrate Gioia Bartalo as she becomes the newest member of the #NUFitSQUAD and shares WHY she is #NUFitREADY! xxx

Filled with Legacy ...
If you know sports then you understand the importance of timing. For the month of August, I am teaming up with my amazing "all-star squad" of female athletes for a series of NUFit™ classes to get you "game day ready". Whether it's the intense training I put the DBC women through to get them field ready, or simply the love for sport and competition, the word August means more than just gearing up for an all male-based sport we love called football. The word AUGUST creates emotion no matter who you are. For the month of August, come join me as we get to know NUFit guest female pro athlete Gioia Bartalo. Gioia's story is filled with LEGACY and is very much rooted in the game of football and dance. Her father played in the NFL and her mother also a NFL Cheerleader; Gioia not only loves sports but she was born to play. So, for Gioia, you can only imagine what the word AUGUST means to her.

Summer Corn Salad
"NUfood"
Easy and simple
A lot of you guys have been asking me about simple and easy summer recipes, so today I'm sharing it with you! Big shout out to my mom who is a killer cook and passed the love of cooking down to my sister and me. The kitchen was always the place where the whole family congregated, we loved hanging around the counter tops while my mom whipped up delicious food. My sister and I loved helping my mom cut up produce or mix ingredients while my mother spewed knowledge about food and preparation. We were like sponges to water, soaking up every word while admiring my mother's craft.
Ingredients:
1 pint of cherry tomatoes 1 jicama 1 lemon 1 avocado 1 cucumber 2 corn stalks
Directions:
First, start by washing your produce, which would be your cherry tomatoes and cucumber. Once those items are washed, you can husk your corn and wash that too! Make sure to wash the naked corn because those corn strings can be a bummer if you get one of those caught in your teeth while eating your salad. Now that everything is washed and ready, you can begin to cut up your produce and place items into a salad bowl. I like to start with the tomatoes, then slowly move onto the items that need to be peeled. For the produce that needs to be peeled, take a peeler and start peeling back the skin. The peeled items are the jicama and the cucumber. Once peeled, cut into small cubes. Personally, I like my salads a bit chunky but feel free to cut how you like.
Once that's complete, take your corn and a knife and begin shaving pieces off. Make sure you have a steady surface, because the corn can get slippery and I don't want you to cut yourself! Next, move onto the avocado. I like to section the avocado like a grid and then take a spoon and pull out the meat of the avocado. Finally, simply place the avocado chunks on top.
Lastly, cut your lemon in half and squeeze onto the salad! There you have it, a simple and healthy summer salad. Enjoy!

Meet Allie Kirby!
“The Business of being Allie”
PROFESSIONAL DANCER X REAL ESTATE BOSS LADY
Happy July everyone! This month I am so excited to introduce YOU to my amazing friend Allie Kirby! She has officially joined the NU Academy! Allie is a great friend of mine, but most importantly an incredible woman who is killing the game in both sports and in business.
Allie is a professional dancer for the Denver Bronco Cheerleaders (SUPER BOWL 2015 CHAMP) and works at New Era Group, one of Colorado’s top real estate firms … which basically means she kicks butt! Her unique passion for sport and business is what connected Allie and I from the beginning. I could tell from the minute I met her she was one driven lady!! Not many people know how hard these DBC girls work …. Allie is not only a professional athlete but she excels off the field as well. This type of dedication takes a certain type of individual to do this … hard work, no days off and sacrifice. It’s the pure love of the game and dedication that keeps girls like Allie playing full out.
This month let’s celebrate this female athlete as she joins the #NUFitSQUAD! Don’t worry because Allie has choreographed a dance JUST FOR YOU!! Make sure to stay tuned and subscribe to my YouTube channel every Wednesday as we “add on” to Allie’s choreography each week.
Make sure to follow Allie @Allie Kirby on instagram and use the #GLITTERBOMB to show us all your dance moves! We are here to inspire you and share our LOVE of movement with all of you! Remember, dreams do come true if you are willing to do the work! Go after your dreams and never give up, because if you want it bad enough you will find a way to make it happen. xxx

Fourth of July Fruit Kabobs
"July 4th symbolizes the official start of summer"
Easy + Healthy + Fun
First, I want to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. I am so proud to be an American! To me, the 4th symbolizes the official start of summer … there always seems to be magic fairy dust in the air. It's the time when families are busting out of cities and headed out on vacation with family and friends. The weekend agenda might include backyard BBQs, farmer's markets, sunshine, mountains, wine and fire-pit sessions … all of which I am in favor of!
During this magical time, there is nothing worse than being stuck in a kitchen while your family and friends are outside enjoying Mother Nature. So, I wanted to share one of my favorite summertime fruit kabob recipes for you! All you need to do is hit your favorite local farmer's market and get skewering!
The Formula
Ingredients:
1 pint of blueberries 1 pint of strawberries 1 pint of watermelon Bundle of bananas Bundle of skewer sticks
Directions:
The best recipes are ones that don't take a ton of effort, and yet are still fun and make people feel good! This way everyone is having fun and enjoying time together.
First, make sure to wash all your fruit. After that is complete, section out the fruit into bowls so it is easy to place on the skewer. This is a perfect activity for kids, because it's fun and they can be creative about how they place the fruit on the kabob. Now, start cutting up the strawberries and bananas, but make sure the pieces are thick enough to place on the skewer. I also like leaving a few uncut strawberries, it makes for a beautiful looking kabob! Lastly, start sliding the fruit on the skewer, one by one … there is no one way to do this! Be creative and make them unique!
That's it! I hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend and try this easy and fun recipe!
Happy 4th!
